Captura Group has given a design refresh to “GobiernoUSA.gov”. The “old” site (FirstGov en Español) had a perception that the site was not an official government website, it also had branding issues with its name and too much information on a given page. The site made it difficult for users to find what they were looking for.
Today, the new refreshed site with a bigger image of the American flag, a more prominet seal of the US government in the top banner, unique images of Hispanic people connecting thru the internet and a more recognizable name is giving GobiernoUSA.gov better results and better experience for their end users, but that is not all here are some other points they have addressed:

•Addition of the official seal of the US government in the homepage header and footer in interior pages and inclusion of the word “oficial”? in the tagline.
•Changing the name of the site from FirstGov en español to GobiernoUSA.gov, a name that communicates that it is a US Government website and includes the “.gov”? extension in the logo which was easily recognized by Hispanics as being official government domain. In addition, GobiernoUSA.gov is a name that is consistent with the new name of the English site, USA.gov, further solidifying the connection between the English and Spanish sites.
•Implemented visual design cues such as headlines to draw attention to certain areas and reduced clutter by putting less content on more pages, thus helping visitors find the information they seek much faster.
•Added a left navigation of related topics in the interior pages and made the tabs more prominent, including adding a mouse-over effect.

How do you think serious entities websites should look like?
