I am almost certain that every country in the world has a unique interesting tradition which is celebrated when a new year arrives. A tradition that is repeated every year and that marks the start of a new calendar. A tradition that makes us feel part of a culture.
In my country as we wait for the first day of January, its very common that people have plenty of fruits at home, lots of fresh flowers, a suitcase to grab and run around your block (for a wish of many travels) and of course yellow underwear for luck among many other things.
So don't get confused or wonder if you see many people buying a lot of yellow items at your local supermarket or bodega, it is for luck.
