Thanksgiving- ¿ Cómo la pasas tu ?
Post a Comment | View Comments (5)

For some Latinos Thanksgiving is a regular day, for others is a way of following the American tradition. It's a great day in which we gather with family and friends and say a little prayer to give thanks to God for all the opportunities this country gives us.

If you are to spend this día with a Latino family it is more than a fact that the table is going to be filled with delicious "platos" like Lechón, Tamales, Tacos, Arroz con Gandules, Cranberry Mojitos or Masamorra Morada. (Dishes vary from where the family is from) If you want to share how you spend this holiday, drop us a line and tell us what was on your table! (I will have Papa a la Huancaina, definitely). Thanksgiving is my favorite All-American Holiday. It is such a memorable time for family and friends to gather, and one that I cherish year after year.

A traditional thanksgiving meal in my household usually consists of the classic 20 or so lb turkey. We have every imaginable side dish on our table and sometimes interesting dishes can appear, depending upon what recipes aired on the food network that month. Some of the divine fixings consist of a bean casserole, stuffed mushrooms, apple pie, pumpkin pie, corn bread, cranberry sauce, and of course the super thick gravy for the turkey and potatoes.

But from the decadent stuffing, to the potatoes both mashed and sweet we find comfort in the values and traditions that we hold true year after year.

Amen to the expanding waist line!

I'm hispanic and i do celebrate thanksgiving. It's one of my favorite holidays aside from christmas! One hondurian dish that's a must-have at my familys' thanksgiving table is arroz con coco { coconut rice}. Come to think of it, thats pretty much the only time of the year my mom makes it. It's pretty special.

Do you have the Coconut Rice recipe? I would love to have it and try it at home!

Actually, i don't have a recipe because my mom makes everything the old fashion way- by memory. I'll try to get down on paper from her the best i can. Sorry.

That would be great if you can really get the recipe! sounds delicioso, something that many of us would like to try on our Dia de Acción de Gracias, too.
Good Luck!
