Ask Marivi: Expert guidance about design for Latin appeal.

RBD's crossover and success

Long time ago I wanted to find a great example of a product (anything) created in Latin America (for Latin audiences) but that had American and Hispanic appeal as well, a product that could sell well in both big markets specially, and why not in any part of the world.
Time has passed and a good example is the Latin-pop band called “RBD” that originated in 2004 from the popular teen telenovela called “Rebelde” in Mexico. The group released an album with songs like “Sálvame” and “Dame un poco de amor” in January 2005 and had a huge success in Mexico selling 500,000 copies earning a Platinum Award. After that came the “Tour Generación Rebelde” and a new CD and DVD, the rest is history……..today RBD appeals not only to Spanish speaking audiences but in English (in the US) and Portuguese as well in Brazil and since their appeal is good enough for the US market, on 11.24.06 they will launch their new musical work, “Celestial”. Stay tuned.

Note:
I heard on the radio that the English version will be completely different from the Spanish version. Can’t wait to get my RBD CD’s! Good job guys! It’s a great example of quality and professionalism in Latin America.
