Latino Stock Imagery
Post a Comment | View Comments (5)

I remember when I had to design several brochures for a Spanish bank, how difficult it was to find the right image for representing Latin American people in their environment and their everyday life. Almost all the images were of white people.

In the advertising agency where I worked we always asked ourselves why there weren't any stock houses shooting images of Latino's/Hispanics. We needed those kinds of images so much! If we were lucky and the client approved, we could go with an exisiting stock image, but the inconvinience was that we had to retouch and darken their hair and skin to make them look more Latino. Most of the time, we made a special shoot with a photographer to achieve what we needed.

More than 5 years has passed and now we finally have a little wider range of stock houses that can provide Latino images. That definitely improves the quality of images and helps reduce the time and money spent on retouching.

If you're looking for Latino/Hispanic stock imagery, try your luck at DigitalVision or Punchstock:
www.digitalvision.com (keyword: "latin rhythm" or "vida latina")
www.punchstock.com (keyword: "latin living" or "vida latina")
www.mira.com (keyword: "Hispanic")
www.artzooksstockphotography.com (keyword: "Hispanic")
www.epictura.com (keyword: "Lifestyle").
