What has Dannon new line of yogurt has to do with Latino Appeal? To me it is the fact that the new container is "más chiquito" 6 oz. vs. Colombo's 8 oz.
I didn't realize why I was buying a different brand of yogurt until I read a couple of months ago an article in the New York Times about Dannon's new lines of yogurts and it's new smaller container size. Yes that was it, I am used to "más chiquito" containers, and that was the reason I switched. Also this reduction came with other good facts that attracted me like more reasonable price and less content witch appeals to weight conscious consumers.
Dannon's 6oz marketing strategy/new yogurt look has been a success. The number in sales has risen since this.
Hispanics/Latinos tend to like many thing that come or are "pequeñito".

My cousin's wife who is hispanic is now buying Dannon too and I know she always buys La yogurt which is more Latino flavored. Probably she now likes Dannon's for its small container.
that's amazing!
you've never visited my family and got served have you!? nothing "mas chiquito" bout the serving portions at their homes!! but i do agree, i tend to grab the smaller containers..could be cause i'm latina, could be cause i'm attracted to tiny objets. whatever it is, if it's selling them more yogurt...they're on to something!
So, let me get this right ...
Hispanics LIKE it when a company shrinks the size of its product but doesn't shrink the price a comparable amount, meaning that the price went up?
Dear CPM:
I don't mean that a company should shrink a product and keep its regular price. Consumers in general will notice if a product is over priced, but that is food for other topic.
What I am saying is that in general Latinos/Hispanics appeal for smaller containers, smaller portions...maybe because to us all the "ito" [ie: chiquitito] words are part of our culture and we relate to that.
