Next time you find yourself contemplating a brandmark, a corporate logo or symbol… shift your perspective. What do you see?
I love this one. I’ve admired it for years as a wonderful example of art and commerce brought together naturally in timeless harmony.

I had an embarrassing project a while back where I designed a lovely looking identity and stationary set. It was printed and I met the client (who was also a friend) that evening for a pint. When he showed it to some friends at the table they immediately noticed that when turned in it side it looked exactly like a silhouette of a male member. I tried to convince the client that he had not just wasted his money on printing and that it was just dirty minds at play. On showing it to the table next door they started to laugh…
I had to offer a redesign and pay for reprinting but fair play to him he seen the funny side. Ever since i always look at work from all angles.

Good eye, there, Bruce. Actually, the logo has been both flopped and rotated ;)
How about some other combinations? I wonder what the possibilities are.

I’ve always loved the VAIO identity as well. Sony did a great job of communicating their sense of the product through that identity.
