In the summer of 1999, we introduced NASA’s Deep Impact project in our cover story and design for the copper industry’s annual report document. In about 60 days, on July 4, the copper-encased impactor will finally meet its destiny when it slams into the comet, Tempel 1, at 22,300 miles per hour. (The fish is a different story.)
